Dear Members, We had a great meeting in March with Dr. Lulich discussing Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease and Cystic Calculi. The notes are available online if you were not able to attend the meeting. At the meeting I announced an HBU MBA student is doing an online survey comparing benefits offered to employees by veterinary hospitals. The survey is anonymous and I will share the results with the membership at the next meeting. The link is www.surveymonkey.com/s/hbubenefitssurvey; please take a moment to fill it out. A letter from Merial was sent to most veterinarians on April 7, 2010, discussing the current Immiticide shortage and Merial’s alternative plan to keep Immiticide in supply. The alternative plan states, “Veterinarians will only be able to purchase Immiticide directly through Merial and only if there is an immediate need to treat a dog with heartworm disease.” If you did not receive a copy of the letter, please let me know or speak directly to the Merial representatives at the May 2, 2010 meeting. The first all-day HCVMA sponsored CE is Sunday, May 2, 2010. There has been a change in the speaker line up: Dr. Karen Tobias will not be able to join us; however, Dr. Sharon Kerwin from Texas A&M University will be speaking on the same surgical topics. Thank you to the 149 veterinarians who have filled out the registration form. The registration form is on the HCVMA website at www.hcvma.org . Please make sure that you have faxed your completed registration form to Dr. Doug Humphrey at 713-774-0345. We need to know exactly how many people are planning on attending so everyone gets a meal. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Marriott on May 2. Respectfully Submitted, Jeff R. Chalkley, DVM HCVMA President
