Dear Members,

The January meeting was well attended and we had a great speaker with Dr. Haug.  During the meeting we collected everyone’s email that wanted to be on her monthly Behavior topic email list.  If you would like to be on the list and were unable to attend the meeting please email me at drchalkley@westburyvets.com and I will forward her your contact information.

Again I would like to remind everyone that we will be having an all day CE event on SUNDAY MAY 2, 2010.  This CE session will replace the Thursday evening meetings for the months of May, June, and August.  So we will NOT be having a meeting those months on Thursday night.  The Sunday May 2, 2010 CE will offer 7 hours of CE credits. You should find a flyer for the meeting in the newsletter this month and every month until May.  Please fill out the information on the back and reserve your spot as soon as possible.  Even if you have already paid your annual dues please fill out the reservations by APRIL 15, 2010 so we can have an accurate count for meals. Please fax your reservation form to Dr. Doug Humphrey at 713-774-0345.

The Board of Directors would like to recognize Dr. Paul Young as a Life Member of HCVMA.  Also we would like to remind everyone that the Harris County Veterinary Medical Foundation is still an active entity that was originally created by HCVMA.  The HCVMF has many charitable functions, including accepting and distributing donations. Recently current HCVMA member, Dr. Kathie Digilio, was involved in a car accident; the HCVMF is accepting any financial contributions on her behalf.  The Board of Directors recently voted to donate $100 to the HCVMF in her name.  If you would like to donate to Dr. Digilio, please contact Dr.  Mark Purser, HCVMF president at 281-398-1551.

This month’s speaker is Dr. Dan Hicks, DACVIM (Neurology).  Dr. Hicks attended Washington State CVM, completed an internship and Neurology residency at WSU.  He spent some time as an Assistant Professor at TAMU CVM and has recently opened Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery Specialist in Houston.  Dr. Hicks is excited to be in Houston.  There is a survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/februarysurvey that Dr. Hicks will use to tailor his discussion, so please submit your answers soon.

Respectfully Submitted,

Jeff R. Chalkley, DVM

HCVMA President
